Round Table: The Challenges of Nonviolence in Violent Environments

Library on Wheels for Nonviolence and Peace Association in cooperation with the Press and Cultural Affairs at the US General Consulate in Jerusalem has set up a Roundtable: The Challenges of Nonviolence in Violent Environments with Dr. Clayborne Carson Professor of History and Founding Director Martin Luther King Jr., Research and Education institute Stanford University, California, with the participation of Palestinian academics, nonviolent activists, representative of several NGOs and governmental organization.

 

Professor Carson spoke about his experiences in Martin Luther King Jr.’s Vision of Global Liberation. The meeting hosted a series of questions, interventions and requests. Professor Carson was accompanied by Mr. Frank J. Finver – Consul for Press and Cultural Affairs-, Ms. Cynthia Harvey – Cultural Affairs officer – and Ms. Suzan Nammari – Senior Cultural Affairs Specialist.

Special Christmas Recital for Library on Wheels for Nonviolence and Peace

Wissam Boustany - Chairman, British Flute Society and founder of Towards Humanity gave a concert in St James’s Church, Piccadilly, on Friday 18 December 2009, in support of Library on Wheels for Nonviolence and Peace - LOWNP. 

Wissam wished LOWNP an inspired, a fruitful New Year 2010 and hoped with some positive developments regarding the sad situation in Palestine - Wissam said: we can only work and hope....

In other form, Wissam has been supporting LOWNP by doing a CD titled 'Wandering Winds' and the sales were for the work of LOWNP.

LOWNP Invited by PCPD for Linking and Learning Workshop.

 

 Library on Wheels for Nonviolence and Peace was invited to participate in Linking and Learning workshop organizes by Palestinian Center for Peace and Democracy – PCPD in cooperation with Cordaid. The workshop will take place in November 18, 2009 in Jenin. The workshop will deal with looking ways / brainstorming about eventually collaboration with Cordaid’s partners.

LOWNP Participated in Cordaid's Workshop.

 

LOWNP participated in Cordaid’s workshop “Partner Consultation on Conflict Transformation” in October 28, 2009 which held in Talita Kummi School – Beit Jala.

 The participants exchanged on the concepts and ideas about Reduce Violence, Increase Justice, and Responding to Real-life Problems. The participants discussed the valuable in the implementations. Also they discussed a new strategic plan submitted by Cordaid “Global Communities of Change from Control to Engagement”  for the period 2011 to 2015.

LOWNP and ACS in Verona.

 Library on Wheels for Nonviolence and Peace, African Community Society invited to participate in a series of activities for youth “Flowers of Peace” which will be held from November 22 to December 1, 2009 in Verona - Italy.

The project is in cooperation with “Il Germoglio” association and with Confronti a monthly magazine of faith, politics and daily life.
